Ready To Burn

Devon and Cornwall Logs Ltd have always supplied   ‘Ready to burn’  firewood that complies with the latest legislation that came into force 1st May 2021, which controls what Firewood is legally allowed to be sold as ‘Ready to burn’.

Under the new Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020, wood fuel sold in volumes under 2m3 will need to be certified as Ready to Burn. Customers buying loose wood in quantities of 2mor more must be given advice on how to store and season the fuel, this will give them confidence that the wood they are burning is suitably dry before use.

The DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) Ready to Burn certification scheme is run by Woodsure. Woodsure is a non-profit organisation striving to raise the quality of wood fuel in the industry.

Air quality and wood fuel has become a hot topic and stove owners are being asked to think about the impact of burning poor quality firewood has on the environment. A stove is only as good as the wood it burns and so the Ready to Burn stamp of approval will reassure those who purchase firewood/briquettes with its logo that they are dry enough and immediately ready to burn.

Devon and Cornwall Logs Ltd. believes the Ready to Burn certification scheme makes it easier than ever for people to identify fuels that meet the legal requirements, so they can have complete confidence in what they’re buying. In 2021 after a site inspection and oven test of our logs we were accredited ”Ready to burn” by the HETAS Woodsure scheme. We are very proud to report our logs tested at 11.8% -13.4%. To join the ”ready to burn” scheme firewood has to be below a moisture content of 20%.
